Overview ​

A Sensora project serves as an organizational unit within the Sensora IoT Web Platform, providing a structured way to group, manage, and monitor related IoT devices. It helps you set up your devices more easily, see their data in one place, and control them all at once, making it much easier to handle lots of devices.

Create a new project ​

To create a new project, go to the "Projects" tab and look for the "New Project" button on the dashboard, located at the top right corner of the dashboard. After clicking the button, a modal will appear.

Project details ​

You need to fill the following fields:

  • Project Name: Provide an unique and descriptive name to help you identify the project easily.
  • Description: Provide a brief summary of the project. This can help you remember the project's purpose and goals.

Add device template ​

Once you've filled out the project details, you can continue with adding first device template.

Device template requires the following fields:

  • Template Name: Choose a name that helps you easily identify the template.
  • Hardware: In this dropdown menu, you'll find a list of all the hardware types that Sensora supports. If your hardware type isn't listed, don't worry - just select the "Other" option. When you choose "Other", a text box will appear where you can type in the name of your hardware. Please note that if you're using an unsupported hardware type, you'll need to make some adjustments to the Sensora library to make sure it works with your hardware.
  • Connection Type: This is where you select how your device will connect to the internet. Currently we only support WiFi, other connection types are under development.
  • Description: Provide a short description of your device template. This can be helpful for remembering what the template is for, especially if you're planning to create a lot of different templates.

Congratulations 🎉 ​

You have successfully created your project and are now ready to start working with Sensora. The next step is adding a device to your project. At this point, you have two options:

  • Add later: If you're not ready to add a device just yet, that's fine! You can always add devices later. After you finish setting up your project, you'll be taken to the main project page. From there, just go to the Devices tab when you're ready to add a device.
  • Add device now: If you want to start adding devices right away, go ahead and select this option. You'll be guided through the process of adding a new device to your project.

A project is more than just a collection of devices. It's a workspace where you can monitor, control, and analyze your IoT devices. So take your time setting things up.
